‘1651’ is a stylish high street bistro which offers a superb quality English and international menu at sensible prices.

The restaurant is run by Jackie and Claire in a relaxed and friendly manner. You can enjoy a generous meal for under £15 which belies the excellent value in food and service that you are promised.
The wine List offers a comprehensive selection of good value wines from all over the world with prices from about £10 to £25.

Our aim, which we believe we are achieving, is to offer the best quality meals in Cirencester at about half the price of the most expensive restaurant.

In September 1651, posing as Jane Lane’s man servant , the ‘would-be’ Charles II hid in these buildings while on the run from Cromwell’s Roundhead troops with a price of £1000 on his head. He just managed to escape to France and was eventually crowned king in 1660. ‘1651’ was opened on the 350th anniversary of this escape.
